I purchased a pair of Sony Earbuds that lasted about 5 years. Naturally, when the left earbud finally gave way, I decided I'd go with another pair from Sony. Although the new pair was extremely comfortable and had great sound, the right earbud stopped working after about 4 months of use. I took great care of them, didn't use them for exercise or during any type of strenuous activity, and oftentimes kept them in the felt bag Sony ships along with the earbuds. I thought this must be a glitch and against my best judgement, stuck with the same MDR-EX56LP for replacement.I received my new pair yesterday. Lo and behold, right out of the package neither earbud works. I've tried them on several different devices (I know it's not the headphone ports on the devices because I've used another pair of earbuds to cross check their functionality) to no avail!!! Now I'm left with a completely worthless set of earbuds that don't work whatsoever and will somehow have to put them back in the packaging they arrived in that's impossible to open and is now all torn up so I can return them to Amazon.I've learned two lessons from purchasing two pairs of Sony MDR-EX56LP earbuds: 1. Don't buy this type - if they even work from the start, they won't for long! 2. Read the reviews of products on Amazon before you buy them (I'm completely at fault in the second category as I'm not typically one to put must trust in said reviews)!I've bought lots of earbuds in all price ranges, including 3 pais of these, because they tend to get worn out traveling in my laptop bags and pockets and even getting rolled under desk chairs. These are the most comfortable ones for me, they are cheap, and the white color makes them easier to find in those dark bags and pockets. One downside is that their bass response is pretty much non-existant. Even mildly more expensive earbuds produce much more satisfying bass. If you want to rock out, spend a little more.I bought 3 pairs of these headphones. I got 3 because the price was nice and it's always nice to have backup pair. I just received my 3 headphones and all 3 didn't work. 2 pair didn't power up at all, and one pair only played out of one ear. All were sealed in a brand new package.DO NOT BUY THESE HEADPHONES. The batch of them is flawed! Seller should have never sold them, or tested them before shipping the garbage. Now I'm supposed to pay to ship them back? Not cool!I bought one of these to replace another pair that one ear stopped working in.... and the ones sent to me cam with only one ear working. SO i returned them and, since I thought sony was a good name, got one more pair. guess what? ONLY ONE EAR WORKED. i am not pleased with sonyBought these to replace a pair of Sony earbuds I have had for 2+ years and hav used daily for running, walking and at my desk. The first pair I ordered didn't work at all - straight from the box. The second pair stopped working after only 1 week. I will be trying a new brand.Just returned my 2nd pair of these. The 1st lasted a week, then the right earbud died. Thought it must be a glitch so I bought another pair. Opened the package, plugged in, and the right earbud did not work. Did a little research and discovered this is a huge problem with these. Beware.Do not buy under any circumstances. I was wholly disappointed to find that not one but two separate pairs purchased (from the same seller...coincidence?) were defective out of the box. A waste of paper, rubber, plastic, and my money.I took these out of the case and they didn't work. I had to return them, and was left without headphones for a very long and boring car trip.
